Welcome to Bright At Home!
I'm just a little person with a little home business. Everything in my shop is authentically handmade by only me from start to finish. That means that I have personally selected the fabrics, washed them, ironed them, cut them, sewn them, photographed them, wrote the listings for them, packaged them, and mailed them. I am proud of the quality and uniqueness of my handmade items and hope you will enjoy that about them too.
Bright At Home is just a small piece of my life right now. I'm a busy girl with a part time office job (3 days per week), and a commitment of 17 hours per week of volunteer service. My shop allows me to work with my hands and do something a little more creative than my day job allows for.
I've enjoyed all types of crafting for years. I originally learned to sew from my mom. But my mom died when I was a teenager, I got busy with everyday life, and sewing (and pretty much all crafting) was pushed to the back burner. I got my mom's sewing machine as a hand-me-down, and I decided to get back to sewing a few years ago. My sister has helped me out with the little tips and tricks that make sewing easier and more professional.
I love color, and without even intending to, my shop started to fill up with brightly colored cushions and home accessories. A few months after I started selling my cushion covers online, I became a little more aware of my taste and what my image and brand are, and so I changed my shop name to Bright At Home. I believe that every home needs some cheerful color! Even though I have only ever lived in a small rented apartment with unchangeable white walls, I have always endeavored to fill my space with bright and cheerful furniture, textiles, and knick knacks. It helps me cope with the long, cold, white winters of Winnipeg. Color has so much influence on our emotions! My shop is filled with colors that make me happy, and that will surely brighten and cheer your home too!
